I set myself a pretty lofty painting goal this year. I had wanted to get 1200 miniatures painted. Well I didn't make it, not even close. I finished with 540 miniatures painted this year. I did however manage to beat the number of 28mm miniatures I did last year by 2 miniatures. So for 2012 I'm going to try and hit 600 miniatures painted.

Ruins of Osgiliath kits to use as generic fantasy ruins. I built 1 set as described in the instructions and kit bashed the other 2 sets. Very versatile kits and may pick up a few more down the road. The floor tiling you can see in a few pictures was left over from their movement tray kits.

I picked these guys up for a song on ebay. Really didn't know what to do with them until recently. Was playing AOA and realized my heavy beastmen unit needed a few more models in it to give it some heft. These guys will technically count for 4 heavy beastmen a piece in the game and you can see a new unit picture of them below.

I recently picked up the 2nd ed rules of Mighty Armies by Rebel Mins. I pretty much skipped over the 1st ed of the rules but the revisions I had heard intrigued me enough to pick up the new version. While doing that I picked up the Cave Imps (pictured above) and their mortal enemies the Garden Gnomes. Need to paint the Gnomes up and then will get a chance to play out the rules.

Companies experience problems/flux of orders etc and they don't bother updating lead times. I started a project and realized I needed some bases(standard sizes,nothing fancy) with slots so I place my order expecting the 7ish days it would take to dispatch them only to find out after a week and half goes by that it'll be another two weeks before they are dispatched. And I only found that out after I contacted them. Hello company if you're experiencing a delay for whatever reason give your customers a heads up. Even something as simple as a blurb on your homepage. It doesn't take that long to update your website. Lesson learned on my part stick with the usual company you deal with and don't bother with the other guy.

Liked the first two issues and understand there still getting off the ground. But really you publish once every three months and you put the rules and army list in here? Come on, they're on your site and in your box sets did you really need to put them into the journal? You couldn't find anything else to put into the journal?

I can't find my Brigade Models PacFed Strike Team at the house, possibly at the storage unit that houses the remaining gaming stuff from my office that my daughter took over. Can't for the life of me seem to be able to find it. It's not with the rest of the 6mm stuff, frustrating as I wanted to prep them today since it is a day off due to the blizzard we were hit with. Hopefully Friday I'll be able to get to the storage unit. Anyone else have this problem?

Ooh look at that strikes for the first time this year. For whatever reason I found myself over on the Blue Moon and looking at the 15mm Old West figures and building they do. Short time later I had ordered 2 sets of building and every miniature pack except the saloon one(that will have to wait until I order the saloon). Received my order and the buildings are excellent and hope to start on this project by next week.

Just need to decide on a set of rules and whether to base them on squares or rounds.

Hmm, well the last couple of months just fell apart for me hobby wise. I lost my painting office to my daughter and had to set up a temporary shop in the corner of the kitchen. So with that happening I failed to hit my secondary goal of another 600 painted for 1200 on the year. I end with 948 painted, still better then last year and a respectable amount I think.So next years goal will be 1200 painted.

It seems no matter how much I try and clean the hobby closet more gets added into it. Some stuff I want to work on more and other stuff I go it'd be nice to have it done but ... So over on the Reaper miniature Forum I stumbled across this link and it inspired me to give the dip a go. As it so happened I have an empire army in need of painting but it's pretty low on the priority list of spending time on. So last weekend I built a unit of swordsmen and a detachment of halberds along with the Army standard bearer and a cannon and crew. Painted them dipped them and finished basing them today.

I chose the scheme of the province of Wissenland from the army book.If I was doing my normal painting scheme I probably wouldn't of chosen it as I'm not huge on painting big patches of white. But for this I figured I go with a scheme I normally wouldn't have tried to paint. I'm happy with the results overall. They'll not win a painting competition but look decent enough on the table. I probably spent more time on building the models then it took to build them.

In anticipation of the two GZG battle forces that I've ordered to start into 15mm scifi I scraped these 3 little buildings together yesterday using mostly balsa wood scraps and some kitty litter.

They're my first attempt at 15mm buildings so comments and suggestions would be helpful.
They're pretty generic so could be used for modern/zombie games and into the future I would guess.

Start of a new Battlesystem/Armies of Arcana army.
Recently picked up the newest ed (5th) of Armies of arcana and really like the rules. My armies will be easy to morph between the two systems and the only real difference will/would be in the basing.

Armies of arcana uses 25mm(or multiples of) and battlesystem uses 15mm on up

Since I was considering going to 25mm anyways for battlesystem it shouldn't matter and when I play I usually provide both sides so all my bases should be covered.
